Global Shavuot Learnathon

Just over three months ago, on Rosh Chodesh Adar Bet, the Jewish world was shocked to the core after hearing of the horrific news from Jerusalem. Eight young boys had been struck down by a barbaric terrorist with their sefarim in their hands. Many of us sensed that it was not only Klal Yisroel that was attacked that night. Our enemies specifically chose to attack our two most precious possessions; our children and our Torah.

The time has come for us to respond. Not with bullets, not with anger but with the only way we know how – through increasing our learning of Torah.

All of us, no matter what our hashkafa, dress, language or location – learn the same Torah, that was handed down by Moshe Rabeinu at Har Sinai all those years ago. Shavuot is quickly approaching, a time when we should once again join together ‘k’ish echad b’lev echad’, like one man with one heart.

It is with this in mind that the OneFamily Fund announces the launch of the Global Shavuot Learnathon, where individuals, shuls and schools around the world are pledging to learn a number of hours of Torah on Leil Shavuot while seeking sponsorship from family and friends.
