Why do we have a body in the first place?

Tomboy- we have a body in the first place because G-d intended that we utilize it for the good, transforming physical existence and reveal it's true holiness.

eat some food with proper brachot, thus feed both, and sometimes you'll feel better.

I like -Y-'s answer:
Say a bracha before you eat something; it is so much more special. Who was it who said, 'I eat an apple, not for the sake of eating the apple, but for the sake of saying the bracha'. I try to do that as often as I can.

This world is a mirror for what goes on in the spiritual world.

All desires we have come from our bodies misinterpretation of our souls only desire - To cleave to G-d.

Since our souls are spiritual, with spiritual desires, and our body is physical, it cannot properly express a spiritual desire. That translates into a desire without parameters. People try to fill that desire by buying fancy cars, jewellery, etc etc But it doesnt work, because they havent fulfilled the desire of the soul.

Hunger is a result of the souls hunger/desire for the G-dly spark in the food - translated into a physical hunger :).
